Tourism

Inglewood Shire is renowned for its fishing, olive industry, water activities and country hospitality.

For the adventurous there are many activities such as hunting safaris, rock climbing, canoeing and four wheel driving to name a few.

Naturalists will treasure the opportunity to identify rare and unique birds and plant life.

Historians will be delighted as the Shire has a rich history in gold and silver mining, as well as being one of the largest tobacco producing centres in the southern hemisphere.  Relics of these industries can still be identified, as they are scattered throughout the Shire.

Inglewood Shire has two wonderfully displayed historical museums that will keep you entertained for hours on end.  You will find these very interesting museums filled with information concerning the tobacco, dairying, cattle, sheep, mining, timber, grazing and farming industries.  This includes a large collection of photos in the Texas centre on the Texas and District from c1890 to current, plus a number of historical publications written by local and regional authors.

These are located as listed below:

  • Inglewood and District Heritage Centre, Cnr Albert and Victoria Streets
  • Texas Heritage Centre and Tobacco Museum, 40 Flemming Street
