Apart from becoming the center of Australia's Olive growing and processing, Inglewood Shire can offer you country hospitality and a retreat "away from it all", even though just 3 hours west of Brisbane.
Get away from theme parks and "over organized" tourism and come and "taste" Australia's true country. Don't have the time to travel a 1000 miles further west? You're welcome to come and experience our special part of the Aussie landscape. Being so close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast we're just a pleasant drive west along the Cunningham Highway. Inglewood and Texas are Queensland's gateway to the south and Sydney. This is a scenic journey winding along quiet country highways to Tenterfield and further south, well worth the detour.
This means you can come for a great weekend or extended escape using the family sedan or 4WD. Most areas are accessible to conventional vehicles or you can challenge your 4WD skills on gentle slopes or rugged steep tracks. Bus tours are welcome and organized tours can be arranged by contacting our Tourism Officer. Visitors from overseas can hire a vehicle in Brisbane or check out commercial bus schedules at the Brisbane Transit Center. Inglewood and Texas both have light airstrips; please note these are not sealed.
